Avanti Energy Services Limited (Avanti) is a Ugandan national company, which engages in providing services to the upstream oil and gas production industry within Uganda. Avanti was awarded a contract by a major oil and gas service company to source and employ in excess of 100 Ugandan engineers, technicians, operators and laborers to support their oil drilling operations within Uganda.
Job Summary: Avanti Energy Services Limited, a leading Oil and Gas Human Resource Recruitment and Consultancy firm, is seeking a Planning Engineer to support our client in the dynamic oil and gas sector. This is a critical role for a results-oriented professional committed to advancing Engineering goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Scheduling & Planning, Develop and maintaining detailed project schedules for oil & gas projects using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Defining project scope by breaking it down into manageable phases like drilling, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
- Critical Path Method (CPM) Analysis, Identifying key activities that impact project timelines, such as drilling, pipeline installation, and plant construction.
- Progress Tracking & Reporting, monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly progress against schedules and generating .reports for stakeholders.
- Resource Allocation & Management, Planning and allocating manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently to avoid delays.
- Cost Control & Budget Monitoring, tracking project costs, monitor spending, and ensure alignment with the approved budget.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation, identifying potential risks such as equipment failures, weather conditions, or regulatory issues, and developing contingency plans.
- Delay Analysis & Recovery Plans, conducting forensic schedule analysis to determine the causes of delays and propose corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Coordination, liaising with project managers, drill engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure smooth execution.
- Contractual Compliance, ensuring project activities align with contract requirements, regulatory approvals, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
- Shutdown & Turnaround Planning, developing detailed plans for plant shutdowns, maintenance, and turnaround activities to minimize downtime.
- Commissioning & Start-Up Scheduling, planning and track commissioning phases, ensuring all systems are tested and operational before production begins.
- Use of Project Management Software, Utilizing Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, and SAP for planning, scheduling, and analytics.
- HSE & Regulatory Compliance, ensuring all scheduling and planning activities adhere to safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards (API, ASME, OSHA, etc.).
- Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned, analyze past projects, document lessons learned, and implement improvements for future projects.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project planning or construction planning
- Certification: Possession of valid and relevant education certificates.
- Experience: At least 5 years in a similar role, specifically related to Planning Engineer, project planner and knowledge in oil and gas, EPC Processes, handle processing
- Skills: Strong understanding of Planning in engineering, excellent stakeholder engagement, project management, and communication skills.
