Job Summary: The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer Intern will support the Organization in tracking, assessing, and reporting on the effectiveness of our services. The intern will be responsible for helping collect and analyze data, ensuring that all projects align with our social impact goals, and reporting on outcomes related to smallholder farmer empowerment. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about sustainable agriculture, rural development, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of M&E frameworks and tools for project activities.
- Support the collection of data through field visits, surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
- Monitor project implementation and assess the effectiveness of activities against set goals and objectives.
- Provide technical assistance to field staff on data collection methodologies and best practices.
- Analyze and interpret data from surveys and field reports, preparing detailed reports on project progress and outcomes.
- Work with project teams to ensure proper documentation and reporting of all monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of M&E-related reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support in evaluating the impact of the farm inputs and advisory services provided to farmers and how these contribute to improved livelihoods.
- Stakeholder engagement. The intern will interact with various stakeholders including beneficiaries, donors, government agencies and community members to ensure integration of their perspectives into the M&E processes
- Learning and adaptation: The M&E intern shall facilitate a learning culture by encouraging reflection and discussions around key findings from M&E activities. He/she shall help in identifying lessons learnt, best practices and areas for improvement, contributing to the organization’s ongoing development
- Ethical considerations: The M&E intern shall ensure adherence to ethical standards in data collection, analysis and reporting. He/she shall ensure the confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information and uphold the rights of individuals and communities involved in the company’s activities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Recently completed a degree in Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics or a related field.
- Strong interest in rural development, agriculture, and smallholder farmer empowerment.
- Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts, methodologies, and tools.
- Familiarity with data collection techniques (e.g., surveys, focus groups, interviews).
- Basic knowledge of data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, STATA, or other M&E tools).
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel to field sites and interact with smallholder farmers.
