Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: To provide Mechanical support and maintenance services to the plants and to adhere to safety and operating procedures of Mechanical maintenance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain complex mechanical systems for the site to support optimum production throughputs, quality and minimize costs.
- Assist in the installation of new machines at the site.
- Carry out Inspections and Execution of master plans for all Mechanical work on site.
- Diagnose and attend to all mechanical faults and breakdowns.
- Conduct preventive, autonomous, breakdown maintenance
- Report and assist in the analysis of incidents or potential hazards.
- Monitor and record the use of workplace consumables and make requisitions where required.
- Use and maintain workshop tools in accordance to working conditions and specifications.
- Daily check and confirm that machines meet safety standards.
- Participate in planning and developing work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Prepare daily maintenance reports for submission to the Mechanical Supervisor and Mechanical Engineer on time.
- Adhere to change of relevant management procedures and work instructions as well as complying with maintenance best practices.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with health, safety and environmental procedures and legislation as well as practicing and maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Support optimization of maintenance workstreams, minimize costs by continuously reduce waste of resources.
- Maintain strong & effective working relationships within team and cross-functionally.
- Provide operational support to the Machine Operators.
- Participate in technical problem solving.
- Any other duties assigned by the Mechanical Supervisor/Mechanical Engineer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- National/Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 2 years engineering experience in food or FMCG Industry.
- Extensive knowledge of Mechanical components and its applications
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical maintenance, production processes and controls logic
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent personnel management skills.
- Ability to handle multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced working environment.
- Possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent team player and has the ability to manage time in an efficient manner.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and presentation skills.
- Resilience and the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a changing environment and respond to different demands with a sense of urgency.
- Good knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, methods and techniques preferably in a food manufacturing/production environment.
