Job Summary: Provide inspirational leadership, and guidance in the
development, implementation, and monitoring of the SAO-U’s strategic framework and programmes.

Share an Opportunity Uganda (SAO-U) is a faith-based Christian, child-centered organization with the National Office in Kampala and other program units spread in the Districts of Abim, Kaberamaido, Sironko, Mbale, Manafwa, Namisindwa, Buikwe, Kikuube and Hoima.
SAO-U has a vision of a holistically developed child within the community and a mission of empowering communities to provide for holistic child development.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement SAO-U’ programs in line with the Organization Strategy
- Guide in the conceptualization and development of the country programme strategy and plan.
- Ensure the development and review of the programme plans and budgets in line with SAO-U strategy, guidelines and policies.
- Review and ensure alignment of programme priorities, strategies and plans to the broader SAO Uganda strategies and plans.
- Develop and implement change management plans related to programming, and related approaches.
- Regularly review and update the risk matrix related to programme development.
- Coordinate periodic reviews of SAO-U’s program strategy.
- Lead innovative approaches and adaptation, to offer alternative development models
- Provide support supervision, guidance and technical advice on program implementation and quality.
- Lead the learning and knowledge sharing processes within the programmes department and organisation.
- Monitor and take corrective action on programme and project plans and budget-performance.
- Review and approve programme concepts and related budgets.
- Review project and programme reports to ensure quality standards.
- Provide guidelines for reporting and documentation of alternative models.
- Ensure that key lessons are shared and disseminated within the organization.
Supervision
a) Travel to the field offices for support vision, and capacity building of field program staffs.
b) Review performance of staif in the programs department.
c) Monitor performance and achievement of set targets, including budget utilization for programs and projects.
d) Hold performance reviews and appraise the direct reports in line with the HR policy and other organizational policies and procedures and provide feedback for improvement.
e) Conduct staff development and training needs analysis, and recommend relevant training for staff being line managed, and agree on their development plans.
f) Set up an enabling environment for staff performance, recognition and reward.
g) Participate in the review of staff job descriptions and performance standards.
h) Conduct resource planning within the programme unit and initiate the recruitment process.
i) Support staff induction, probation and confirmation.
Resource mobilization
- Contribute to the identification of programme funding gaps and identify priorities and funding opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of funding concepts and proposals to ensure sustainability of SAO-U programs.
- Review project and donor reports prior to submission, ensuring high reporting standards and donor guidelines.
- Ensure compliance to set up donor standards and requirements.
- A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or any other related field is a requirement.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field area will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
a) Five years’ relevant experience in a similar position, or middle management position especially working with a reputable NGO.
The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks including police and reference checks (certificate of good conduct) to help verify their suitability to work for SAO- U.
The job holder must be a hardworking, spiritually mature, focused and trustworthy individual that upholds a high sense of integrity and accountability and commitment to the vision, mission, values and aspirations of SAO-U.
