Epicentre is an organisation created by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 1986. We conduct field epidemiology, training, and research activities for MSF interventions. Our activities for populations in precarious situations are led from Uganda, Niger, and France, and through the programs of MSF and others. They mainly concern infectious diseases and undernutrition.
The Ugandan Research Center conducts research activities on public health issues relevant to Africa, according to GCPs (Good Clinical Practices) quality standards, in close collaboration with MSF, Mbarara University of Science & Technologies, and other stakeholders in health sector. Current projects, include clinical and vaccinal trials, focus on TB, HIV, central nervous system infections, and yellow fever.
Job Description
General responsibilities (not exhaustive)
1. Study-related activities
• Perform routine data entry from source documents/ CRFs into study database systems provided on the computer while adhering to the data entry guidelines.
• Maintain completeness, consistence and accuracy of data captured in the study databases.
• Contact preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data and liaises with the clinical team to resolve the queries in the CRF/source documents.
• The data entry officer keeps track of received source documents, assists in establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient records management system.
• Reviews and makes necessary corrections to information entered into the study databases.
• Maintains confidentiality of study data accessed and ensures safety of study and related documents as required
records within their custody.
• Generates weekly/monthly reports and responds to inquiries regarding entered data as requested.
• Attends study meetings and gives updates on the study data activities accomplished.
2. General Tasks
• Attends required data entry trainings and meetings and provides input to enhance data systems.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Performs general clerical duties that are within the scope of the study data management procedures.
• Provide training and support to other data clerks to help them execute their responsibilities.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
3. Performs other job related duties as deemed by the supervisors
Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology / Information Systems and other related courses from a recognised institution/ university.
Experience: At least one year experience in data entry; previous experience of working in a research environment is an added advantage.
A minimum of one year experience in data management in a health related field
Language: English both written and verbal
Competencies: Ability to operate various work-processing software, spreadsheets and database programs
Excellent communication skills, Computer knowledge and skills, Ability to work in a team & Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
