Avanti Energy Services Limited (Avanti) is a Ugandan national company, which engages in providing services to the upstream oil and gas production industry within Uganda. Avanti was awarded a contract by a major oil and gas service company to source and employ in excess of 100 Ugandan engineers, technicians, operators and laborers to support their oil drilling operations within Uganda.

 

Job Summary:   Avanti Energy Services Limited, a leading Oil and Gas Human Resource Recruitment and Consultancy firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in the oil and gas sector. The Civil Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and supervising civil engineering projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental best practices.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying optimal locations for facilities by analyzing topography, soil conditions, and environmental constraints.
  • Designing pipeline routes, specifications, and considerations for trenching, water crossings, and soil stability.
  • Developing designs for platforms, storage tanks, and other structures capable of withstanding operational and environmental loads.
  • Selecting suitable foundation systems based on geotechnical conditions.
  • Designing preventive measures to address soil erosion around pipelines and facilities.
  • Evaluating and mitigating the environmental risks of construction projects.
  • Overseeing site activities to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with contractors to maintain quality control and project timelines.
  • Ensuring all construction activities align with regulatory and permit requirements.
  • Designing and constructing offshore platforms and pipelines.
  • Conducting soil analyses to develop safe and stable foundation solutions.
  • Supervising geotechnical studies, topographic surveys, and construction activities to ensure compliance with legal and industry standards.
  • Maintaining daily records of weather, progress, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Reviewing civil and structural engineering designs submitted by licensees for compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Contributing to licensee work programs and budgets for technical compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Reviewing licensee reports to verify adherence to approved schedules and objectives.
  • Assisting in the identification and implementation of engineering standards for civil and structural facilities.
  • Working with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • A post graduate Diploma or Masters in Civil Engineering is an added advantage
  • 5 years of civil engineering experience related to site design, land development and land use permitting
  • Experience and strong understanding of civil engineering principles and design software like AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in geotechnical investigations and site surveys.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
