Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspection of Electrical Systems
- Receive Materials and able to understand Material Test Certificates, IRN, identify faults if any.
- Inspect the installation of electrical systems on pipelines and well pads, including power distribution, lighting, motors, and control panels.
- Ensure that electrical wiring, grounding, and panel installations conform to relevant standards (e.g., IEC) and project specifications.
- Verify that electrical systems are installed with proper safety measures, including protection devices (e.g., fuses, circuit breakers) and compliance with hazardous area classifications.
- Perform inspection of electrical substations, switchgear, transformers, and control systems for pipelines and wellpads to ensure compliance with engineering designs.
Instrumentation Systems Inspection
- Inspect and verify the installation of instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and level indicators.
- Ensure that instruments are correctly calibrated and installed according to engineering specifications and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Verify the integrity of instrument loop wiring and connections between field instruments and control systems.
- Check that instrument signal wiring and connections to control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA) are correct and operational.
Telecommunications and Control Systems Inspection
- Inspect the installation and configuration of telecommunications systems used for remote monitoring and control of pipelines and well pads, including radio, fibre optic, satellite, and other communication equipment.
- Verify the proper installation of fibre optic cables, data communication equipment, and networking devices (e.g., routers, switches, etc.).
- Ensure that control systems, SCADA systems, and other remote monitoring technologies are integrated and configured correctly for smooth operations.
- Perform checks on telemetry systems to confirm data transmission is accurate and secure.
Compliance and Standards Adherence
- Ensure all electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications installations comply with local, regional, and international standards, such as BS (British standards) IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and ATEX/IECEx for hazardous locations.
- Verify that installation and testing of electrical systems, instrumentation, and telecom equipment align with environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Perform hazard analysis to identify potential electrical and instrumentation safety risks and ensure appropriate protective measures are in place.
Testing and Commissioning
- Assist in the testing and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications systems to ensure they meet functional and performance specifications.
- Perform routine checks and functional tests on electrical equipment, instrumentation, and telecom systems to ensure proper operation and integration with other systems.
- Verify continuity and insulation resistance testing for cables and wiring, ensuring safe operation in hazardous areas.
- Conduct loop checks, calibration tests, and functional tests of instruments, sensors, and control systems.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Support troubleshooting activities in the event of system failures, such as electrical faults, instrumentation malfunctions, or communication breakdowns.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions and preventive maintenance to ensure continuous operation of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems.
- Assist in routine and preventive maintenance inspections, ensuring that electrical and instrumentation systems are in optimal working condition.
Safety Inspections
- Ensure all electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems are installed with appropriate safety features to prevent accidents or equipment failure (e.g., overcurrent protection, grounding, explosion-proof equipment).
- Monitor safety practices and procedures in the installation and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment, ensuring they align with safety standards such as OSHA and IECEx/ATEX guidelines for hazardous environments.
- Participate in safety audits and hazard assessments (e.g., HAZOP) to identify and mitigate potential risks related to electrical or instrumentation systems.
Documentation and Reporting
- Reports to EIT lead Inspector.
- Maintain detailed records of all inspections, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities for electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications systems.
- Prepare inspection reports and technical documentation, highlighting any issues, deviations, or recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all testing and inspection results are properly documented for regulatory compliance and quality assurance purposes.
- Track and report on the status of electrical and instrumentation work, highlighting any delays or issues that may impact project timelines.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, contractors, and other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, civil) to ensure the successful installation and commissioning of pipeline and well pad electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure that equipment meets the required specifications and standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams, contractors, and other stakeholders on electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems installation and troubleshooting.
Training and Development
- Stay updated on the latest electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications technologies, codes, and industry best practices.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems related to pipeline and wellpad operations.
- Assist in the training of junior inspectors and personnel on best practices for electrical, instrumentation, and telecom installations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or enrolled in an engineering program (EIT).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and telecommunication systems, especially in industrial or oil & gas settings.
- Certifications: Familiarity with certifications such as BS, IEC, ATEX standards relevant to electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems.
- Field Experience: Practical knowledge of electrical equipment, field instrumentation, and telecommunications systems in pipeline or wellpad installations.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, coordinating, and collaborating with teams.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in conducting inspections, documenting findings, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.
- Age 22-40 years old.
