Job Summary:

The Initiative Manager – Regreening will lead the CARE-led components of the Regreening Uganda Communities project. This role involves strategic direction, project management oversight, stakeholder engagement, and technical support for natural resource governance interventions. The role aims to ensure gender-transformative, high-quality project outcomes while supporting the growth of CARE’s Natural Resource Governance (NRG) portfolio.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Project Management Oversight:

  • Develop and update project plans using CARE’s approved tools.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project activities and effective resource utilization.
  • Mobilize participants and engage community leaders for wider project impact.
  • Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Consolidate narrative and financial reports for submission to donors.

2. Program Quality and Learning (PQL):

  • Ensure high-quality gender and disability-transformative interventions.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to improve project delivery.
  • Collaborate with MEAL teams to evaluate impact and ensure robust reporting.
  • Enhance project visibility through diverse communication platforms.

3. Strategic Engagement and Networking:

  • Represent CARE in advocacy initiatives, policy discussions, and sectoral engagements.
  • Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including government, CSOs, and private sectors.
  • Influence CARE’s internal programs for sustainable natural resource use.

4. Program Design and Growth:

  • Develop concepts and proposals to expand CARE’s Climate Justice portfolio.
  • Identify funding opportunities and build strategic partnerships.

5. Promote Gender Equity and Safeguarding Practices:

  • Uphold CARE’s values and policies, including safeguarding and anti-corruption.
  • Ensure team compliance with gender equity and diversity goals.

6. Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and consortia collaboration.
  • Knowledge of environmental and humanitarian contexts.
  • Proven ability in research, advocacy, and influencing policy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with codes of conduct, including safeguarding policies.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle (valid riding permit required).

Desired:

  • Professional training in project management, M&E, budget management, and gender equality.
