Position Overview
The Head of Risk Management & Compliance will lead the development and implementation of risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to protect Buganda Land Board’s assets, operations, and reputation. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Risk Management
- Develop, implement, and review risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify, analyze, and prioritize potential risks.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register, tracking and monitoring risk exposure.
- Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring effective controls are in place.
Compliance
- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.
- Train employees on policy compliance requirements and best practices.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, ensuring policies are updated accordingly.
- Report on compliance metrics and address any compliance issues.
- Strengthen internal controls to ensure segregation of duties and effective oversight.
- Conduct regular assurance reviews to ensure compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Identify and address control gaps and weaknesses.
Governance
- Provide risk management guidance to the Board and CEO, ensuring risk considerations are integrated into strategic decision-making.
- Attend Board meetings and provide risk updates.
- Collaborate with internal audit during Management and Board committee meetings.
Training and Awareness
- Develop and deliver risk management training programs for employees.
- Raise awareness of risk management practices across the company.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Statistics, Project Management, or any relevant field.
- A Master’s degree in Business Management or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience handling similar responsibilities.
- Experience in real estate, land management, or a related industry is an advantage.
