Job Overview

Sign of Hope (SoH) is commissioning an audit under the funding guidelines of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for a development project implemented in partnership with Soroti Catholic Diocese Integrated Development Organization (SOCADIDO). The audit will provide accountability, transparency, and accuracy in financial disclosures related to a project aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of smallholder farmers in the Teso sub-region, Eastern Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

The auditor will:

• Conduct an annual audit for the period 01/01/2024 – 28/02/2025.
• Perform a comprehensive examination of the project from 01/12/2021 to 28/02/2025.
• Review project financial records, receipts, and related documents to assess compliance with BMZ standards, SoH requirements, national regulations, and International Accounting Standards (ISA).
• Verify all project-related income, expenditures, and the management of funds.
• Evaluate budget adherence, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project objectives.
• Assess the compliance of personnel costs and procurement practices with local and project-specific regulations.
• Provide recommendations on financial and human resource management systems.

Deliverables

• Audit Report: Includes scope, mandate, and evidence summary.
• Audit Certificate: Professional opinion on project financial reporting.
• Management Letter: Recommendations on identified weaknesses.
• Other Documentation: Checked and stamped list of project receipts and inventory.

Qualifications and Experience

• Recognized independent auditing authority with certification from a relevant institution (e.g., national association of auditors).
• Minimum 5 years of experience conducting external independent audits for international donors in Uganda.
• Experience with BMZ-funded projects is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of international accounting standards and donor compliance.
• Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit methodologies.
• Proven track record in project financial management assessments.
