Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the repair and perform preventative maintenance on all company equipment as allocated by the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) department, according to Uganda Airlines’ established standards and procedures.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment and vehicles, providing feedback via serviceability checklists.
• Develop and maintain a work schedule for all technicians.
• Communicate effectively with technicians and update them on work requirements and progress.
• Ensure adherence to Workshop Safety Guidelines and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
• Report faulty machines and recommend solutions to the Line Manager.
• Complete, verify, and file all necessary documentation for assigned tasks.
• Maintain an up-to-date personal tool list, both physical and documented.
• Manage spare parts stock levels efficiently.
• Assist in the implementation of GSE policies and procedures.
• Ensure excellent maintenance and organization of equipment records.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Education:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent.
• Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in plant maintenance in a busy workshop.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a Supervisory or Managerial position.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Previous work experience with a Ground Handling Agent (GHA) is an added advantage.
• Skills and Competencies:
  • Fluency in both oral and written English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Analytical and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of Airside Safety, Airside Driving, and Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
  • Training on modern petrol and diesel engines is desirable.
