To ensure the bank is proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring credit and market risks that could impact the bank’s operations.
a) Conduct comprehensive risk assessments:
• Computation and analysis of the different credit risk parameters resulting in the preparation of daily credit risk dashboard reports for decision making.
• Compilation of Monthly Credit risk Risk Assessment reports.
• Support the compilation of Basel II capital returns in compliance with the Bank of Uganda’s Basel II guidelines.
• Review and submit monthly IFRS9 provisions and BOU loan loss provisions report in line with regulatory requirements.
• Perform and submit monthly and quarterly market, liquidity & credit stress test reports to assess the bank’s resilience to adverse scenarios.
• Provide weekly class movement analysis to track portfolio migration trends.
• Develop weekly loan recovery reports for the loans under the Doubtful & Loss categories.
• Maintain and submit quarterly risk registers for the Business Growth team.
• Conduct targeted risk assessments on loans in arrears and prepare review reports identifying gaps resulting in increased defaults.
• Review loan files that require Management Credit Committee approval.
• Perform a detailed analysis of the bank’s financial exposure and liquidity risks to identify vulnerabilities.
• Provide recommendations to strengthen the bank’s liquidity position and financial stability.
• Coordinate and conduct Business Resumption Site tests to ensure the bank’s preparedness for unforeseen events.
• Undertaking Risk independent reviews and spot checks in branches & Head Office departments to assess the effectiveness of policies and procedures and identification of vulnerability points and gaps for improvement of process flows.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Risk
b) Training and Awareness
• Conduct risk awareness through various programs to cultivate a strong risk culture and accountability across the bank.
c) Governance and Compliance:
• Monitor Credit operational activities to ensure adherence to set policies, procedures, and guidelines governing risk identification, assessment, control, and overall risk management processes.
• Analyse audit findings and assist in implementing audit recommendations
• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or any other related discipline from a recognized university.
• A minimum of at least 2-5 years’ experience in a Supervised Financial Institution (SFI), two years of which were gained from Credit operations.
• Knowledge in risk management: The ability to identify and assess risks and vulnerabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to timely identify and deal with threats before risks materialize.
• Interpersonal Skills.
• Effective communication with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
• Reporting: The ability to communicate risk assessments and recommendations clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to nurture functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific trends in risks and regulations can be advantageous.
• Self-driven, assertive, and proactive.
• Ability to exercise the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
