About the Role:
PATH Uganda is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Officer to support its business development and partnership initiatives with a range of donors including the U.S. government (e.g., USAID, CDC), bilateral agencies (e.g., UK FCDO), multilaterals (e.g., Unitaid, WHO, Gavi), foundations, and private sector firms. This role involves developing new business intelligence, proposal strategies, and managing proposal development to secure funding. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver compelling and responsive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain close relationships with assigned countries in Africa and global programs, ensuring the delivery of the full business development lifecycle.
- Build and manage business development pipelines.
- Engage with potential donors and partners to identify new opportunities.
- Represent PATH in donor and partner discussions to enhance the organization’s reputation and visibility.
- Provide strategic guidance in business intelligence gathering, bid decision-making, and resource acquisition.
- Lead proposal management efforts, ensuring quality and compliance with donor requirements.
- Draft and review proposal sections as needed.
- Utilize Salesforce to manage donor, partner, and opportunity data, generating reports and presentations for tracking activities.
- Mentor and support junior staff in business development processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- At least five years of relevant experience in global health, international development, or a related field, including a minimum of three years in business development.
- Proven track record in positioning and proposal development for donors such as USAID, CDC, UK FCDO, and multilateral organizations.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong leadership and management skills across the business development continuum.
- Deep understanding of donor rules, regulations, and proposal processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in SharePoint and Salesforce is an advantage.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (25%).
