Job Summary
The Social Protection Officer will oversee and implement SGBV prevention and response project activities within the district, working with community structures to address SGBV issues. This role involves collaboration with key stakeholders, including District and Sub-County Community Development Officers, and integrating project services with technical teams.
Program Overview
The IRC-led consortium has been awarded the four-year PROSPECT SRHR project by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN) for the West Nile region. This project focuses on improving sexual reproductive health and social wellbeing by reducing maternal mortality, teenage pregnancies, SGBV incidents, child marriages, and new HIV infections.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify, train, mentor, and support social protection structures.
- Supervise SGBV prevention and response activities and oversee awareness-raising initiatives.
- Manage and assign tasks to community structures and monitor the implementation of work plans.
- Collect and compile data, submit reports, and ensure proper documentation of activities.
- Maintain effective referral pathways and contribute to information management for SGBV survivors.
- Conduct capacity building, service mapping, and ensure alignment with national and international guidelines.
- Prepare reports on activities and conduct regular field visits.
- Promote holistic, survivor-centered interventions and strategic partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years in reproductive health, family planning, SGBV, and HIV.
- Training of Trainer (ToT) skills are essential.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with healthcare, education, and social protection systems in Uganda.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and community mobilization skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fluency in English and local languages.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and teamwork.
