Established in 2007, HHA operates in Haiti, South Sudan, and Uganda (the latter two under HHA East Africa). The organization responds to the refugee crisis in Uganda through health, disability, nutrition, and education services and supports a range of health projects in South Sudan, including outpatient rehabilitation and a health clinic established in Kajo Keji County in 2023.
With over 60 Ugandan and South Sudanese staff, HHA East Africa’s dynamic operations continue to grow. In 2023, HHA EA won the prestigious Ockenden Prize, an international award recognizing exceptional projects supporting refugees globally. Job Summary
Hope Health Action (HHA) seeks a motivated and experienced Centre Manager to oversee operations at the New Hope Bidi-bidi Rehabilitation Centre. The Centre Manager will manage all aspects of the centre’s operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, smooth communication, and effective leadership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide leadership to centre staff, supporting hiring, training, and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring open and transparent communication among team members.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and a culture of respect and acceptance.
- Set clear goals and expectations, offer resources, monitor progress, and provide guidance.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a positive attitude and encouraging trust and empathy.
Communication
- Ensure effective communication within the team, across departments, and with senior management.
- Regularly update the HHA East Africa and UK teams on activity progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Manage stakeholder communication to maintain positive relationships and protect the organization’s image.
Project Management
- Facilitate collaboration within project teams, clarifying roles and fostering a cohesive working environment.
- Support project managers in tracking milestones, timelines, and budgets to keep projects on schedule.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Consolidate monthly reports and fund requests from team leads.
- Compile success stories and case studies, and organize feedback sessions with beneficiaries.
Administrative Oversight
- Oversee daily administrative operations, including scheduling, record-keeping, and correspondence.
- Work with HR to implement policies, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate staff meetings and workshops, manage minutes, and support performance management.
Financial Management
- Monitor the centre’s budget, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends, improve efficiency, and control costs.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies and mitigate financial risks.
Community Engagement and Networking
- Represent HHA in the community, building relationships with stakeholders, agencies, and partners.
- Engage in community outreach, education, and advocacy for individuals with health challenges and disabilities.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and healthcare standards.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain quality assurance and risk management practices.
- Implement initiatives to improve service quality and efficiency.
Organization Asset Management
- Oversee the use and maintenance of HHA assets.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of humanitarian work ethics and standards is desirable.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in office management, budget control, community mobilization, and operations.
- Experience working with NGOs, particularly in health and disability care.
- Strong financial management, strategic planning, and supervisory experience.
Attributes
- Ability to multitask, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in a Christian organization and leading within a faith-based environment.
