Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. In Uganda, we are currently seeking to recruit
a Packaging Engineer based at the Mbarara Plant.
As a Packaging Engineer, you will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Key Purpose Statement
The primary role of a Packaging Engineer is to ensure the engineering integrity of the packaging plant. This includes responsibility for asset
care, cost and performance control, overall reliability, and “up-time” of The Plant.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and support to the Plant Engineering teams in terms of asset management strategy, framework, and
technology in a manner that engenders ownership, empowerment, and team interaction to enable the implementation of Business strategies.
• Partake in the development of the asset care plan for the Plant, contributing suggestions and providing expert advice.
• Implement the asset care plan for the Plant, ensuring the Packaging Engineering team have the required competencies to execute the plan.
• Support plant performance improvement by conducting and leading performance optimisation initiatives.
• Evaluate impact of new plant and equipment and sign off all plant modifications and changes. Analyse plant performance data to identify opportunities for improvement plant performance, and initiates opportunity evaluation.
• Ensure that the Engineering team apply proper safety and housekeeping procedures and adhere to all legal requirements when carrying out their tasks.
• Entrench a high-performance culture by conducting regular Engineering team goal review sessions, one-on-ones, and performance reviews.
• To draw up and communicate a Business plan annually so that the direction and objectives of the department are optimally planned, executed, and monitored in line with CCBA’s strategic objectives.
• To drive WCM initiatives in the Engineering environment
• To manage and support team leaders and team to achieve production, maintenance, inventory and quality targets in a cost-effective manner
• To formulate and control expense and capital budgets so that expenses are planned for and managed effectively within budgetary parameters
• To sell, manage, implement, and actively support change interventions and projects to encourage the unit to internalize the change to meet operational targets.
• To solve systemic problems to save costs, minimize risk and losses, and improve productivity in line with benchmarks.
• Adhere to the food safety (FSSC) requirements and Quality standards at all levels (local, international, and CCBU policy).
• Stop and report to EOSH any works onsite that are deemed unsafe as per the Risk Assessments.
Qualifications
• Minimum requirement: A minimum of a Bachelor’s in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical
• Added advantage: A successful track record as a Packaging Unit Manager
Experience
• At least 5 years of maintenance experience
• Ideal: 3 years of experience in maintenance of packaging and utilities equipment at a supervisory level
