Job Summary
The Information Management Officer will support the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) in Eastern & Southern Africa with managing quantitative data from 4Mi enumerators and partners. This role involves data checks, cleaning, validation, storage, and analysis. The Officer will also contribute to data collection and management trainings, administrative support, and innovative data visualization.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management: Conduct weekly data cleaning and validation, manage data storage, and oversee the regional ONA platform.
- Coding and Survey Development: Code surveys, review codebooks, and compile quantitative data from secondary sources.
- Training and Feedback: Assist with training 4Mi enumerators on data collection software and provide feedback after data cleaning.
- Quantitative Analysis: Use software like Excel, STATA, or R for data analysis to support research agendas and produce data snapshots for publication.
- Data Visualization: Use tools such as QGIS, Adobe Illustrator, PowerBI, and Excel to visualize data, including GIS data.
- Administrative Support: Assist with various tasks related to 4Mi, including supporting regional Information Management (IM) working groups.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Degree in statistics, economics, data analysis, or a related field in computer science.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years in quantitative research.
- Experience with data management, validation, storage, and electronic data collection solutions (e.g., ODK, Kobo, Qualtrics).
- Experience with training data collection teams is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis tools like Excel, STATA, SPSS, R, or Python is an asset.
- Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with GIS theory and software (QGIS, ArcGIS) is an advantage.
- Understanding of mixed migration issues and prior experience with international NGOs is beneficial.
- Other Attributes: Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to learning and innovation.
