Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
  2. Academic Requirements:
    • For Master’s: Bachelor’s degree required.
    • For PhD: Master’s degree required.
  3. Age Limits:
    • Master’s applicants should be under 35 years.
    • PhD applicants should be under 40 years.
  4. Language Proficiency: Must demonstrate proficiency in English or Chinese, with some programs specifying minimum scores on tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or HSK.
  5. Academic Excellence: Applicants should have a strong academic background and a record of relevant achievements.
  6. Research Potential: Demonstrated interest in research or field contribution.
  7. Health: Good physical and mental health required for program success.
  8. No Prior Chinese Government Scholarship: Applicants must not have previously studied in China under such scholarships.
  9. Recommendations: At least two academic/professional recommendation letters.
  10. Commitment to Return Home: Scholars are expected to contribute to their home country after program completion.

Application Process

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm you meet all criteria, including academic, age, and language requirements.
  2. Choose Your Program and Institution: Select your program and desired university or research institute.
  3. Gather Required Documents:
    • Completed scholarship application form
    • Passport copy
    • Academic transcripts and certificates
    • CV and Statement of Purpose (or Research Proposal)
    • Two recommendation letters
    • Language proficiency proof (English/Chinese)
    • Health certificate (if applicable)
  4. Complete the Online Application: Submit your application through the official ANSO Scholarship website or directly on your chosen institution’s website.
  5. Submit University Application: Apply separately to your chosen institution if required.
  6. Application Review: The ANSO Scholarship Committee will review applications and shortlist candidates. You may be contacted for an interview.
  7. Interview (if required): Be prepared to discuss your academic background, research goals, and motivation.
  8. Results Notification: Shortlisted candidates will receive an official offer.
  9. Accept the Offer: Confirm your acceptance and follow instructions for visa application, travel arrangements, and enrollment.
  10. Apply for a Student Visa: ANSO will assist with required documents for the visa.
  11. Prepare for Departure: Once the visa is approved, finalize travel and accommodation plans. Information on orientation and language programs will be provided.
