About the Role:
UWEAL is seeking an energetic and creative Communications Officer to help tell our story as we implement projects across three regions of Uganda. This role involves amplifying UWEAL’s impact, achievements, and the voices of our members through digital platforms, social media, PR, and other channels. You’ll play a key role in enhancing UWEAL’s visibility and supporting the GROW Project (Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises), aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communications: Support content planning, create engaging materials, and help implement UWEAL’s Strategic Plan.
- Social Media: Develop and manage content across social media channels, engage with key partners, and enhance UWEAL’s online presence.
- Media Relations: Maintain positive media relations, create press releases, and proactively seek promotional opportunities.
- Website & Email Marketing: Publish updates on the website, create newsletters, and manage email marketing campaigns.
- Print & Publications: Assist with content creation, editing, and distribution of UWEAL publications and promotional materials.
- Monitoring & Analysis: Track and analyze the impact of communications activities, using insights to refine strategies.
- Member Services: Support member engagement and help onboard new members.
Person Specifications:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in communications, PR, marketing, or digital roles.
- Strong skills in social media management, email marketing, and content creation.
- Team player with excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of website content management (preferably HTML and CSS) and digital tools like Mailchimp, Canva, or Adobe Suite.
Desirable Skills:
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
- Experience in video production, podcasting, and online events
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and online advertising platforms like Google Ads and Facebook Ads.
Expectations:
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Based at UWEAL’s Head Office in Kampala, with potential for remote work upon agreement.
