Job Summary
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Field Assistant to conduct anthropological research within the local communities in and around the zones of Ofua, Ocea, Siripi, and Eden. The Field Assistant will be trained in anthropological methods and work closely with the Team Leader (TL) and research team based at headquarters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend onboarding and training in anthropological methodology.
- Conduct field research, including participant observation and ethnographic note-taking.
- Ensure the quality of activity planning, implementation, and follow-up.
- Monitor local initiatives and community structures’ engagement with Humanitarian Development Peace actors.
- Participate in review and coordination meetings at the basecamp.
- Conduct semi-structured interviews with refugees and community members.
- Attend weekly online supervision sessions.
- Submit weekly reports on ethnographic field notes and relevant interview data.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Background in ethnographic research or conducting interviews.
- Community Involvement: Respected within the local community with access to community leaders.
- Languages: Advanced proficiency in English; Nuer proficiency required.
