About the Organization

The Medical Research Council (MRC UK), in partnership with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), is a leading research institution with a focus on HIV, emerging infections, vaccines, immunity, chronic diseases, and cancer. Through a multidisciplinary approach, MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit contributes valuable knowledge in epidemiological, social-behavioral, and intervention evaluation studies that influence health policy and practice in Africa and globally. Based at the UVRI Entebbe campus, the Unit operates established outposts in Kalungu, Masaka, Wakiso, and Kampala.



Job Summary

The Field Worker – Interviewer will play a vital role in identifying and recruiting study participants while managing the consent process and data collection for a malaria research study. This includes accurately collecting and securely handling study data to support research integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit eligible study participants at designated project sites.
  • Administer the consent process to ensure participants are fully informed.
  • Maintain availability and safekeeping of study questionnaires and consent forms.
  • Securely store and transmit completed consent documents.
  • Submit daily enrollment reports to the field coordinator.
  • Extract and manage relevant malaria data from the health information system.
  • Conduct data cleaning and enter data into the electronic system.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Nursing, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in malaria research or infectious diseases.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with fieldwork, surveys, and the research participant consent process.
    • Strong analytical skills, team-oriented, and flexible with working hours.
