About the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI)
IDI is a Ugandan non-profit affiliated with Makerere University, dedicated to strengthening health systems across Africa, focusing on infectious diseases through research, training, and capacity-building initiatives.

Project Overview
Supported by USAID, IDI is implementing the Local Partner Health Services-TB (LPHS-TB) Activity, aiming to reduce Uganda’s TB burden by 2026. This 5-year project (2021–2026) has recently expanded to cover all nine districts in the Karamoja region, focusing on high-impact interventions in TB treatment and prevention.

Job Summary
The Radiographer will provide X-ray imaging services in designated community and hospital settings. Collaborating with clinical and community outreach teams, this role is essential to the project’s goal of expanding TB detection services across Uganda’s Karamoja region.

Key Responsibilities

  1. X-ray Imaging Services
    • Administer TB screening and prepare individuals for X-ray procedures.
    • Perform X-ray imaging, ensuring high-quality outputs for accurate clinical diagnosis.
    • Communicate AI platform use with clinical teams and patients.
  2. Collaboration and Coordination
    • Work alongside clinical and community teams for timely service delivery.
    • Support timely radiograph interpretation and data documentation.
  3. Maintenance and Safety
    • Ensure equipment functionality and adhere to radiation safety protocols.
    • Maintain infection control measures and equipment security.
  4. Data Management and Reporting
    • Ensure data synchronization from mobile apps to the main server.
    • Record and store digital images in project databases, collaborating with the MEL team for accurate tracking.
  5. Training and Capacity Building
    • Provide on-the-job training on portable X-ray equipment.
    • Assist in developing TB screening protocols and conduct quality assurance.
  6. Community Engagement
    • Support community awareness on the role of radiography in TB detection.
    • Integrate X-ray services with outreach efforts like screening, counseling, and referrals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging.
  • Experience: Registered with the Allied Professionals Council with 3 years’ radiography experience.
  • Skills: Strong in radiation safety, infection control, and AI platform familiarity. Proficient in data entry, with good communication skills, work ethic, and team collaboration.

Work Hours: 8 per day
