JOB OVERVIEW:
Oversee all policies and operational programs intended for the mitigation and/or reduction of compliance, operational, strategic, financial, and reputational security risks relating to the protection of company assets.
KEY DUTIES
- Ensure that all critical areas of security concern in regard to the Retail shops are adequately covered in the security plan and are effectively managed, monitored, and controlled.
- Develop security trend analysis for the Yalelo Uganda outlets.
- Develop and regularly update the geographical security profile of the shops (with regards to socio-economic, and criminality).
- Undertake regular audits, research, and investigations to continuously improve shop security management.
- Develop and review Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) adapted to the local context.
- Develop and regularly update crisis response, evacuation, and contingency plans in conjunction with the incident response team.
- Ensure preparedness to crisis scenarios, evacuation and contingencies that includes a schedule of scenario drills to ensure continuous improvement of company-wide reaction and response to a variety of incidents.
- Coordinate and monitor security activities to ensure that safety and security policies and procedures are implemented and strictly adhered to.
- Carry out conclusive investigations on incidents and accidents in order to create a safe environment and prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that security training needs are identified and processed promptly and are undertaken at the appropriate time.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least ten (10) years of Security Services experience (police/military/intelligence services), and at least five (5) years at the supervisory or management level within the private security industry,
- A meticulously presented self-starter with a positive and professional attitude with the ability to operate at all levels of the business spectrum to achieve outcomes
- Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating, and engagement skills
- Preferably working within multinational companies (FMCG, manufacturing desirable, or alternatively natural resources – mining/oil & gas).
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a ‘hands-on’, problem-solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
- Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with security matters resilience and the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
- Leadership experience which must have extensive experience in managing teams of supervisors across large geographical expanses.
- Strong computer literacy with a working knowledge of the complete range of MS Office packages. Strong knowledge of next-generation electronic security and surveillance systems and how they can be installed and optimized to enhance an over-arching site security and surveillance strategy.
