Job Overview:
The Project Driver will provide transport services, administrative, and logistical support to staff and stakeholders of the Citizens’ Action Against Corruption activity. The role involves ensuring adherence to AAIU’s Vehicle Use Policy and USAID guidelines.
About the Citizens’ Action Against Corruption Activity:
This project addresses the high levels of corruption in Uganda, driven by impunity, apathy, and permissive social norms. The project aims to empower citizens to lead anti-corruption efforts, strengthen accountability systems, and promote positive norms. ActionAid Uganda will manage this USAID-supported activity across Kampala, Gulu, Kapchorwa, and Kumi.
Reports to:
Human Resource and Administration Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive staff, visitors, partners, and other stakeholders to and from various destinations in compliance with AAIU policies and procedures.
- Maintain project vehicles and motorcycles in clean and good mechanical condition.
- Pick, deliver, and account for all correspondence, parcels, and messages.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to staff and stakeholders.
- Plan and budget for vehicle maintenance, and prepare monthly reports on vehicle usage.
- Ensure compliance with statutory vehicle requirements, including logbooks, insurance, and permits.
- Log official and private mileage and provide accountability.
- Support procurement processes by picking quotations from suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in any related field.
- Valid driver’s permit with Class B, DL, DM, and A.
- Training in Basic Financial and Logistics Management is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years driving experience with government, NGOs, or USAID-funded projects.
Skills and Competencies:
- Defensive driving skills and basic mechanical knowledge.
- High level of integrity and strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in route planning, map reading, and problem-solving.
- Feminist leadership skills are highly valued.
- Ability to promote and safeguard AAIU policies.
