Job Summary:
UGANET is seeking vibrant, competent, and committed individuals for the role of Project Officers in Kyegegwa District. We are looking for gender equality advocates with proven experience in gender advocacy and empowerment to promote gender equality and women empowerment among refugees and host communities in the context of agriculture, climate change adaptation, and sustainable management of the environment.
Reports to:
Head of Advocacy Department
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as UGANET’s program lead and representative in the district, building relationships with community structures and leaders to achieve gender equality and women empowerment.
- Champion women’s and girls’ rights advocacy in the district, mobilizing grassroots efforts for gender equality.
- Lead mobilization and engagement of community activists, leaders, and grassroots actors to address harmful gender norms and practices.
- Coordinate community mobilization activities, such as monthly meetings, radio programs, and community sensitizations.
- Network and collaborate with District Local Government and other stakeholders to promote gender equality and women empowerment programs.
- Build a strong referral network supporting the needs of vulnerable women and girls in the district.
- Prepare and submit timely activity and progress reports on UGANET’s gender advocacy work.
- Represent UGANET at relevant forums and prepare reports on external engagements.
- Track, document, and report on results from community structures, maintaining contact with local women and girl groups.
- Prepare success stories and contribute to UGANET’s public relations material.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an NGO setting.
- Knowledge of SASA! Together, with the ability to pass it on to others, is an added advantage.
- Additional certifications in gender and women’s studies will be beneficial.
- Ability to work with grassroots communities and district leaders.
- Familiarity with the local ecosystems of Kyegegwa District and fluency in local languages is a plus.
