The Electoral Commission is hiring a Sub-County Election Officer (2300) to manage electoral activities at the sub-county level. This is a critical role that ensures the smooth execution of elections in Uganda.



Number of Positions: One per Sub-County
Reports to: Returning Officer
Duty Station: Within the Sub-County

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer all electoral activities in the sub-county.
  • Conduct voter education within the sub-county.
  • Issue Voter Location Slips.
  • Update the Voters Register.
  • Mobilize people to participate in electoral activities.
  • Oversee nominations, campaigns, and polling day activities.
  • Report election activities to the Returning Officer.
  • Manage Electoral Commission equipment and materials within the jurisdiction.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising registration, display, and polling day officials.
  • Ensure timely delivery of election materials to polling stations.
  • Publicize electoral activities in the area.
  • Provide information and statistics on voter registration, voting, and elections.
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.
  • Must be a registered voter.
  • Should have been a resident of the sub-county for at least three years.
  • Proven high moral character and integrity.
  • Knowledge of Uganda’s electoral process is essential.
  • A crime-free record is mandatory.
  • Experience in handling public affairs is an added advantage.

Application Procedure:

Interested and qualified applicants should submit handwritten or typed applications clearly indicating the position applied for and the desired area or district of work. Applications must include:

  • National ID or NIN.
  • Comprehensive CV with two referees and a daytime telephone contact.
  • Photocopies of relevant certificates and testimonials.

Submit your application to the District Election Administrator in your district by Monday, 4th November 2024.

Interview Process:

  • A shortlist of candidates will be posted at the District Election Administrator’s office.
  • Interview dates will be communicated through the District Election Administrator and local radio stations.
  • Successful candidates will receive appointment letters via the District Election Administrator’s office.

Payment:

Successful candidates will be paid through e-cash, so applicants must have a phone number registered with Mobile Money in their name.
