The Electoral Commission is hiring Parish Election Officers to manage electoral activities at the parish level. These positions are critical in ensuring the effective conduct of elections across Uganda.



Number of Positions: One per Parish
Reports to: Sub-County Election Officer
Duty Station: Within the Parish

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer all electoral activities within the parish.
  • Conduct voter education in the parish.
  • Issue Voter Location Slips.
  • Update the Voters Register.
  • Mobilize people to participate in electoral activities.
  • Oversee nominations, campaigns, and polling day activities.
  • Report election activities to the Sub-County Election Officer.
  • Manage Electoral Commission equipment and materials in the parish.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, registration, and polling day officials.
  • Ensure timely delivery of election materials to polling stations.
  • Publicize electoral activities.
  • Provide statistics and information on voter registration, voting, and elections.
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Must be a registered voter.
  • Resident in the parish for at least three years.
  • High moral character and integrity.
  • Crime-free record.
  • Demonstrated experience in public affairs is an added advantage.
  • Considerable knowledge of Uganda’s electoral process.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to command respect.
  • Strong knowledge of the electoral process.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work with senior figures from various fields.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to train others.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • National ID or NIN.
  • Comprehensive CV with two referees and a daytime contact number.
  • Photocopies of relevant certificates and testimonials.

Interview Process:

  • A shortlist of candidates will be posted at the District Election Administrator’s office.
  • Interview dates will be communicated through the District Election Administrator and local radio stations.
  • Successful candidates will receive appointment letters via the District Election Administrator’s office.

Payment:

Successful candidates will be paid via e-cash, so applicants must have a Mobile Money number registered in their name.
