Old Mutual Uganda is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the financial resources of the company through designing and overseeing controls and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare Monthly Management Accounts for local, group, regulatory, and board reporting in compliance with IFRS.
• Reconcile balance sheet schedules with the General Ledger and sub-ledger on a monthly basis.
• Handle reinsurance reconciliations (claim recoveries, adjustments) in collaboration with the reinsurance officer.
• Review and reconcile rental income for all properties (Kimathi, Nakawa House, and NBP).
• Maintain registers for monthly accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
• Prepare quarterly/annual Risk-Based returns for IRA submission.
• Adhere to internal controls related to the General Ledger and financial reporting.
• Train and mentor junior team members in financial and management reporting.
• Develop robust accounting systems that safeguard company assets and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Liaise with external auditors during audit activities.
• Prepare variance analysis for all departments and branches according to budgetary provisions.
• Compile and submit monthly Opscom reports for both Local Management and Group.
• Manage reinsurance functions for Medical Business and General Insurance.
• Reconcile core systems integrated into the financial reporting tool D365.
• Maintain and update the company’s fixed assets register.
• Ensure regulatory returns are completed and submitted on time.

Required Skills:

• Board reporting, financial analysis, and general insurance knowledge.
• Proficiency in management accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting tools.
• Experience with internal controls, general ledger management, and reinsurance processes.

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
