JSI/WE is seeking an Accountant for a five-year USAID-funded Targeting the Learning Crisis Activity in Uganda. This initiative focuses on creating sustainable, measurable improvements in education by implementing Targeted Instruction pedagogy for Ugandan primary students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain JSI/WE financial accounts, including the Mobile Money payment system.
- Document and report all expenses, process Accounts Payables, and code payments in the QuickBooks system.
- Supervise Finance Assistants and ensure timely payments and proper coding of expenses.
- Project weekly cash requirements and initiate fund transfers for the Mobile Money system.
- Review payments for national-level activities, consultant time sheets, and ensure conformity with policies.
- Handle monthly payroll computations, manage accounts receivable/payable, and reconcile project taxes/obligations.
- Support partners in setting up Mobile Money systems, review sub-awards, and prepare costed work plans with the Finance Manager and technical staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a business-related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial management or accounting within an NGO setting.
- Experience using QuickBooks and Mobile Money payment systems is highly desired.
- Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
