Job Overview

The Warehouse Officer will support the implementation of the 2024/2025 Uganda Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (UPHIA 2024/2025) survey, which is being carried out by the Ministry of Health (MoH), Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S CDC). This position is temporary until September 30, 2025, and the officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the central warehouse in Kampala, handling goods reception, stock keeping, expiration management, and dispatch of supplies.



Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Receive goods and supplies, prepare goods received notes, and liaise with technical staff to ensure the quality of received items.
  • Administer stock, maintain an updated inventory, and ensure appropriate storage conditions.
  • Monitor and manage expiration dates proactively.
  • Distribute stock as needed and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor stock consumption rates and request replenishments at least two months before stock-outs occur.
  • Assist in planning and implementing disposition plans for supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the supervisor related to this job description.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • 3 years of experience in a similar position within a large organization.

Preferred Experience, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Ability to manage timely procurement and delivery of items under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with USG and local supply chain policies and procedures.
  • Prior experience with donor-funded projects related to HIV/AIDS care is desirable.
  • Experience with laboratory or survey-related supplies is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Email applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism.

Travel Requirements:

  • Periodic trips to partner sites, field sites, and off-site meetings within Uganda may be required.
