Job Description:



The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is seeking a Statistician to support the USAID LPHS TB Activity. The role involves compiling and analyzing programmatic data from focus districts and assisting the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP) with data analysis from programmatic activities and operations research. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Advise and assist the research team in study design, sample size determination, data collection tools, and data analysis approaches during protocol development.
  2. Perform data management activities for USAID LPHS TB Activity and NTLP research studies, including:
    • Development of data management plans.
    • Creation of electronic research databases on tools.
    • Conducting periodic data QA/QC.
  3. Conduct appropriate statistical analyses for research studies, including:
    • Development of statistical analysis plans.
    • Carrying out and interpreting statistical analyses under the guidance of a senior statistician.
    • Contributing to the methods and analysis sections of manuscripts drafted by USAID LPHS TB Activity and NTLP staff.
    • Presenting and interpreting results for operations research studies.
  4. Organize and conduct trainings in data management, statistical analysis skills, and methodologies for USAID LPHS TB Activity and NTLP staff.
  5. Collaborate with the Health Informatics Analyst to develop, manage, and maintain statistical databases, and supervise data entry.
  6. Provide advice on software needs for data management, analysis, and visualization.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Epidemiology.
  • 5-10 years of experience in applying advanced statistical analysis to clinical data in a research or programmatic setting.
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis techniques is an added advantage.
