Job Overview

Industrial Security Services Ltd is seeking a competent and experienced Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with Ugandan regulations and ISO standards across operations. The role involves working closely with various departments to guide safety regulations, conduct regular audits, and address compliance-related issues.

Reports To:

General Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement HSSE strategy, including risk assessments and mitigation plans.
2. Lead compliance efforts with Ugandan regulations and ISS HSSE standards.
3. Manage contractor safety by verifying HSSE policies and compliance.
4. Foster a safety culture through training and awareness programs.
5. Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
6. Manage emergency preparedness plans for each facility.
7. Train and develop staff on HSSE matters.
8. Compile and manage HSSE documentation, track regulatory changes.
9. Implement and maintain environmental impact mitigation practices.
10. Oversee regular equipment inspections for safety.
11. Conduct audits and manage corrective actions to improve HSSE performance.
12. Implement and audit the company’s ISO integrated management system (9001, 14001, 45001).
13. Support the sales team to ensure safe product offerings.
14. Engage with stakeholders and authorities to improve HSSE practices.
15. Coach and support teams in achieving HSSE compliance.
16. Stay informed on local and international HSSE regulations.
17. Compile and report HSSE data internally.
18. Conduct inspections of potential client locations to assess HSSE practices.
19. Conduct internal readiness audits and ensure ISO IMS is aligned with operational needs.
20. Update security policies, processes, and guidelines for certification.
21. Facilitate external certification processes and report on QMS effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in safety and security, particularly in complex projects.
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma and membership in professional bodies (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
• Experience in Security Operations is preferred.
• Proven experience in ISO management systems for Quality, Environment, and Occupational Health & Safety.
• Strong knowledge of risk management principles and global environmental standards.
• Excellent organization, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate across various levels within the organization.

• Difficulty managing ambiguity.

• Work Hours: 8 hours per day
• Duty Station: Jinja, Uganda
