Job Summary:
The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for receiving, dispatching, sorting, and distributing mail from multiple sources including local and international mail, Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) mail, diplomatic pouch material, and commercial courier services. The role involves a large portion of time serving customers at the Mailroom service window and is supervised by the Mailroom Supervisor.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive, dispatch, sort, and distribute various types of mail and materials.
  • Provide mail services to customers at the Mailroom service window.
  • Follow Department of State DPO, Pouch, and host country post regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of local post offices, airport, train facilities, and courier systems.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate mail records and logs.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Education:

  • Successful completion of high school or local equivalent is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in customer care, office assistance, or clerical work is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of standard office practices.
  • Familiarity with the Mission’s organization, function, and personnel.
  • Understanding of DPO, Pouch, and local post regulations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and move up to 250 pounds with assistance.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours when required.

Language Proficiency:

  • English language level III (Good working knowledge) in reading, writing, and speaking is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • All applicants under consideration will need to pass medical and security certifications.
