Job Summary:
The Depot Manager will be responsible for aligning depot operations with the organization’s growth strategy by overseeing the efficient loading, offloading, receiving, and storage of company products. The role is also critical to the Route to Market (RTM) strategy, collaborating closely with the sales and logistics teams to enhance depot performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the depot strategically in compliance with company SOPs, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and train sales staff to grow the customer base and drive business growth.
- Plan work schedules, assign tasks, and appraise employee performance.
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate team performance, ensuring high levels of motivation and productivity.
- Manage depot operations within the approved budget, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Oversee stock control and ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and security standards.
- Offer exceptional customer service, addressing queries and complaints promptly.
- Coordinate with the sales team to ensure cohesiveness and goal achievement.
- Analyze stock performance, advise on reorder levels, and conduct market surveys.
- Compile and submit timely depot reports to the head office.
- Manage and control credit sales for the depot.
- Handle other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sales, or Marketing.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within an FMCG company with diverse product offerings.
- Experience in sales, business development, or partnership management.
Competencies:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of operating systems like SAP for inventory management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong interpersonal skills and people management abilities.
- Financial reporting knowledge or accounting exposure is an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of the market and product offerings.
- Excellent reporting and analytical skills.
Additional Information:
- The Depot Manager will have decision-making authority on key operational aspects within the depot.
- The role involves budget planning and responsibility for tracking stock and work tools.
- The job requires maintaining a normal level of confidentiality.
