Position Overview:
Alight Uganda is looking for a Communications Coordinator based in Kampala to design and implement communication strategies across our Uganda programs. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for managing internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media, and engagement with journalists and researchers. This role supports fundraising efforts and ensures alignment with Alight’s branding requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communications:
- Lead the design and implementation of Alight Uganda’s communication strategy.
- Create high-quality internal materials (updates, newsletters, presentations) to foster collaboration across field sites.
- Ensure external messaging is driven by field realities and is evidence-based.
- Build the capacity of staff in effective communications through training.
- Support additional communication needs as required.
2. Branding & Visibility:
- Manage social media platforms, monthly newsletters, and develop high-quality visual and written content.
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets, partner organizations, and community leaders to enhance Alight Uganda’s visibility.
- Support special events and fundraising activities.
- Provide graphic design support, video editing, and manage the Alight photobank.
- Work with the MEL team to produce quality reports, fact sheets, and evaluation documents for external dissemination.
3. Fundraising:
- Provide administrative support for fundraising bids and campaigns.
- Develop project briefs and pitch decks for donors.
- Maintain contact lists of key donors and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in Uganda.
- Strong experience in digital communication and content management.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate fundraising.
- Experience working in both public and private sectors.
- Strong organizational, summarizing, and report writing skills.
- Proven ability to build partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
