Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Commercial Supervisor to oversee and manage all commercial activities of our mini grid on Lolwe Island, Lake Victoria. The Commercial Supervisor will be responsible for driving customer acquisition, revenue generation, and ensuring the smooth operation of all commercial functions, customer service, and community engagement.
This role will be part of the Commercial team that is based in Lolwe Island, Namayingo, Uganda, led by Commercial Manager. This is an incredible opportunity for a talented individual to join a high-performing team that is passionate about pioneering productive use of electricity and clean water.
The Commercial Candidate must join with strong sales and marketing skills.
Responsibilities, Deliverables and Activities
Top Key Responsibilities
• Support the commercial launch of new products and services alongside electricity services as identified by the company
• Oversee customer acquisition and retention, customer care, manage customer loan portfolios, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Lead end-user training, customer onboarding, after-sales services, and resolve customer issues through case management and support systems.
• Supervise the company sales force through target settings and incentives design to achieve the coverall commercial targets.
• Support the development of the site commercial strategy and lead field implementation
• Engage and manage relevant stakeholders in the commercial activities and
• Manage the field commercial operations, including strategy, recruitment, team leadership, financial oversight, and legal compliance.
Deliverables and Activities
a)Sales and customer care
• Responsible for customer acquisition and retention
• Responsible for customer loan portfolio including customer credit check
• Coordinate the sales team and ensure that their KPIs are met
• Share different clientele needs with the commission agents to enable them to achieve sales.
Identify opportunities to increase sales by expanding the customer base or offering additional services (e.g., productive use of energy, solar home systems, or appliance financing).
• Work with local businesses to explore partnership opportunities that enhance the commercial viability of the mini-grid.
b)Customer support (After Sale support)
• Provide support and end-user information to the local community regarding our products and services
• Manage after-sales services and monitoring of sales performance.
• Case management, assigning payments, crediting meters, and unarchiving meters.
• Responsible for customer satisfaction across the island
c)Operations
• Collaborate with the technical operations team to ensure reliable energy supply to all customers and minimize downtime.
• Provide regular feedback on customer needs, energy demand trends, and opportunities for service improvement.
• Community Engagement and Support Foster strong relationships with the local community and key stakeholders to encourage the adoption of mini-grid services.
• Organize community meetings, education sessions, and outreach programs to address customer concerns and promote energy usage.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service issues, resolving disputes and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Required skills and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial role, preferably in energy, utilities, or rural development sectors.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Good knowledge of Excel, Word and Google Suite
• willingness to work on flexible timetables
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and billing software is a plus.
