Global Communications Director Dalberg

ABOUT THE ROLE
At Dalberg, we serve by supporting our clients on some of the toughest social impact challenges. We see an incredible opportunity to magnify our impact by:
1. sharing our learnings to benefit others seeking to make impact

telling the stories of our projects and clients to crowd in more collaboration
3. elevating the voices of communities who we are ultimately supporting
4. and telling Dalberg’s own story as one of the world’s largest social enterprise professional services firm, in our push to influence the broader ecosystem
The role of Global Communications Director offers a unique opportunity for a high-order and purpose-driven communicator to create a deep impact on meaningful social challenges. This is not typical corporate communications and PR. It is a senior role of thought partnering with our incredibly motivated team to communicate the insights from our work powerfully and describe issues and amplify voices in an empathetic and nuanced way. Your work will not be judged by the number of likes and followers you gain, but by how our work is reaching decision-makers and tilting choices towards more just outcomes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AND HOW YOU WILL GROW
As a Global Communications Director, you will lead a team of ~8 full time and part time communication colleagues from around the world. This Global Strategic Communications team serves all Dalberg businesses and is a thought partner to over 80 global management team members, spread across Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. You will bring a balanced global view of Dalberg’s work and an understanding of regional communications sensitivities as we target different decision-makers. Your canvas of content will include: the learnings from over 3,000 projects completed in the last 20 years across a wide range of social issues, active client engagements across our 610+ full-time staff, a stream of thought leadership, and public reports that we have produced to spotlight important issues and solutions. Your team is the tip of the spear in terms of sharing our ideas to influence the sector and our competitive positioning within it. You will control our external airwaves (website, social media, newsletters, events) to ensure we have a consistent voice, meet our standards for delivering quality insights, and, above all, live up to our values through what we communicate.
You will report directly to the Global Managing Partner of Dalberg Advisors for the day-to-day driving of our strategy. You will also work with the Dalberg Trust (an independent guardian of our brand) on brand related issues, campaigns and broader comms initiatives, and collaborate and coordinate with all Dalberg entities

The primary responsibilities of this role are:
• Communications Strategy: develop and execute a global strategy that: builds a unique Dalberg voice; externally advances opportunities for broader ecosystem influence and elevates important perspectives and voices; internally builds culture and engagement across Dalberg staff.
• Thought Partnership: help our teams elevate their opportunity for impact by advising on how strong communications can supercharge their outcomes
• Brand Management: oversee the Dalberg brand to ensure that it is compelling, communicated effectively, and advances our mission
• Content Development: support the thought leadership published by Dalberg, both on Dalberg.com and through external sites, synching with major events on the global development calendar (International Women’s Day, COP, Davos, UNGA, World Health Assembly, etc.)
• Social Media and Website Oversight: monitor the performance of our owned channels, refining our presence and messaging based on data analytics.
• Media relations: nurture relationships with top media outlets as important vectors for sharing our ideas and insights.
• Culture building: develop, in partnership with key leaders, messages, campaigns and calls to deepen and share the Dalberg culture across our offices around the world.
• Manage the Team: inspire and grow our team of global communications staff focused on our global communications objectives.

Manage the Budget: liaise with our global finance colleagues to project budget requirements each year and monitor spending against the budget.
• Event planning: coordinating Dalberg’s representation at key global events (UNGA, COP, Davos, Women Deliver, etc.)
