Projects Engineer – Mechanical Hima Cement Ltd

The Projects Engineer – Mechanical will ensure completion of Projects Mechanical works by performing the appropriate procedures to ensure the projects are done within budget and in compliance with the OH&S regulations.

In order to achieve the above objectives, Hima Cement Limited seeks to recruit a motivated and competent Projects Engineer – Mechanical as indicated below:

Job Title: Projects Engineer – Mechanical

Reporting Line: Projects Unit Lead
Duration: Full time
Duty Station: Kasese

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare quality bill of quantities (BOQs) for the required Mechanical works and modifications.
• Preparation of the Business cases for various key projects as identified.

Review and approval of contractor’s manpower, project schedules, and method statements.
• Ensure onsite monitoring of critical works during execution phases.
• Ensure review and approval of Mechanical drawings and follow up with the approval process.
• Use AutoCAD drawing as a tool for Mechanical drawings development.
• Provide technical advice on Mechanical-related plant issues for corrective actions.
• Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance, reporting on the project’s status.
• Prepare site completion certificates for all jobs completed using the provided template.

Cooperate and communicate with the project manager and other project participants to create more efficient project methods and maintain project profitability.
• Guarantee compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment policies for project maintenance personnel working with him/her.
• Contribute to plant cleanliness and risk analysis, suggesting mitigation measures for Mechanical works.
• Monitor the performance of projects maintenance contract personnel.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
Technical Competencies:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Two years’ experience in the mechanical engineering field.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with an anticipatory and curious mindset, and willingness to challenge assumptions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Worksheets.
• Understanding of the cement manufacturing process.
• Knowledge of the characteristics and properties of cement and intermediate products.
• Knowledge of material transport equipment.
• Experience applying FMEA techniques and knowledge of basic problem-solving tools.
