The organization launched e-Mandi, a digital platform designed to bring transparency to market transactions for agricultural commodities. AMSAF is also part of Asili, an integrated food security enterprise established in 2012, which serves as a leading producer, aggregator, and service provider in East Africa, leveraging a large network of farmers and agri-communities.
Main Responsibilities
- Financial Planning and Strategy
- Develop comprehensive financial plans to support the company’s objectives and long-term growth.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Oversee preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Provide insights into the company’s financial performance and trends.
- Risk Management
- Identify and manage financial risks including agricultural risks, market fluctuations, and operational challenges.
- Implement strategies to mitigate risks and protect profitability.
- Cash Flow and Capital Management
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, managing working capital and optimizing capital structure.
- Oversee strategic investments and evaluate debt and equity options.
- Financial Control and Compliance
- Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Oversee audits and implement best practices in financial governance.
- Strategic Financial Decision-Making
- Advise senior management on key financial decisions including mergers, acquisitions, and investments.
- Evaluate the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate financial performance and strategies to stakeholders, including investors and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare presentations and maintain transparency in financial matters.
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead the finance team by hiring, developing talent, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Business Partnership
- Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with overall business objectives.
- Contract Management
- Oversee negotiation, review, and management of contracts to ensure compliance with financial goals.
- Tax Planning and Compliance
- Develop tax strategies, ensure compliance with tax laws, and optimize tax efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in finance and accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in the agricultural or Agrifinance sector or digital marketplace platforms.
- Familiarity with digital platforms and financial technology solutions.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in financial and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERPs) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
Languages
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in additional East African languages is advantageous.
Work Conditions
- Work Environment: Office-based with occasional travel to field locations within Uganda and possibly other East African countries.
- Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week), with additional hours during peak periods, audits, and special projects.
