Job Summary:
The Projects Engineer – Mechanical will ensure the successful completion of mechanical project works by following appropriate procedures to ensure projects are completed within budget and in compliance with OH&S regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare quality bills of quantities (BOQs) for required mechanical works and modifications.
- Develop business cases for key projects as identified.
- Review and approve contractor manpower, project schedules, and method statements.
- Monitor critical works on-site during execution phases.
- Review and approve mechanical drawings and manage the approval process.
- Use AutoCAD for developing mechanical drawings.
- Provide technical advice on mechanical-related plant issues for corrective actions.
- Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, and personnel performance, and report on project status.
- Prepare site completion certificates for completed jobs using provided templates.
- Collaborate with the project manager and other participants to improve project methods and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies for project personnel.
- Contribute to plant cleanliness and risk analysis, suggesting mitigation measures for mechanical works.
- Monitor performance of project maintenance contract personnel.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
- Technical Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Two years’ experience in the mechanical engineering field.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Worksheets.
- Understanding of the cement manufacturing process.
- Knowledge of cement and intermediate product characteristics.
- Familiarity with material transport equipment.
- Experience with FMEA techniques and basic problem-solving tools.
- Profile & Personal Qualities:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Positive attitude in a demanding, busy environment.
- Budgeting and leadership skills.
