Job Overview:
We are seeking a competent and experienced Machine Operator to work with Uganda Batteries Limited (UBL). The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining production machines in line with established standards and guidelines, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate production machines according to specifications.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure tasks are completed accurately.
- Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive and autonomous maintenance on machines, including pre-operation checks.
- Recalibrate machines at the end of shifts and report any issues, such as oil leakages.
- Production Monitoring:
- Monitor equipment to ensure it meets the production schedule and targets.
- Carry out pre-operation checks to control and reduce defects during production.
- Workstation and Equipment Maintenance:
- Keep the workstation clean and maintain equipment according to the cleaning schedule.
- Documentation:
- Document production and quality records in line with standard operating procedures.
- Maintain and update daily activity logs.
- Process Improvement:
- Participate in the implementation of kaizen and 5S activities on the production floor.
- Raw Material Utilization:
- Ensure efficient utilization of raw materials according to guidelines and monitor stock levels.
- Health & Safety:
- Comply with company health and safety standards at all times.
- Minor Adjustments:
- Perform minor adjustments and routine maintenance tasks as per the operational manual.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Mandatory Requirements:
- Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of working experience in a related industry. - Education:
Certificate or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Competencies:
- Proficiency in Production SOPs and chemical handling.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-focused mindset and results-oriented.
- Effective decision-making skills and business acumen.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Ability to innovate and think creatively.
Work Hours:
8 hours per day
