Job Summary:

Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health (MakSPH), is subcontracted by Research Triangle International (RTI) to conduct a process and impact evaluation of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) ‘Vegetables for All’ project in Uganda. This project aims to improve dietary diversity by increasing the consumption of safe vegetables.

The main objective of this evaluation is to assess the effectiveness of the project in increasing vegetable consumption and improving the diet quality of low-income households. The evaluation will be conducted across four districts: Kampala, Wakiso, Jinja, and Mbale.

MakSPH seeks to recruit 20 responsible and competent Enumerators to support data collection for the baseline evaluation. Enumerators will work with a team of researchers, supervisors, and coordinators to ensure successful data collection and implementation of the evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend all training and pretesting sessions.
  • Pre-test data collection guides, forms, and devices.
  • Participate in household listing and dietary assessments in the study communities.
  • Conduct surveys on vegetable vendors.
  • Ensure safe custody of collected data, both hardcopy and digital.
  • Provide daily updates to the study team and assist with field reports.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Field Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience in community surveys, dietary assessments, and 24-hour dietary recall interviews.
  • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice or Human Subjects Protection is an added advantage.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Fluency in local languages, such as Luganda, Lumasaba, and Lusoga.
