About Organisation:

Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health (MakSPH) was subcontracted by Research Triangle International (RTI) to conduct a process and impact evaluation of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Vegetable for All project in Uganda. The goal of GAIN’s ‘Vegetables for All’ project is to contribute to improving the dietary diversity of Ugandans through increased consumption of safe vegetables and greater use of vegetables in Ugandan cuisine.

The main objective of the evaluation is to assess the effectiveness of GAIN’s Vegetable for All Project in Uganda for increasing the quantity of vegetables consumed and improving the diet quality in bottom-of-pyramid (BoP) households, which earn < $250 per month.

 

Job Summary:   The evaluation team seeks to recruit responsible, qualified, and competent individuals who can work with minimum supervision to join its team as Enumerators, to support data collection for the baseline evaluation. The evaluation will be conducted in four districts of Uganda, namely: Kampala, Wakiso, Jinja, and Mbale.

 

Job title:  Enumerators (20)

Report to: Field Supervisor, who then reports to the Study Coordinator

Main role: Working together with Researchers, Field Supervisors, Study Coordinator, and Investigators to collect data and ensure successful implementation of the baseline evaluation.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend all training and pretesting sessions.
  • Pre-test data collection guides, forms and devices for data collection
  • Participate in household listing in the study communities
  • Participate in household dietary assessments and vegetable vendor’s survey
  • Ensure safe custody of both hardcopy and digital data collected and follow all quality checks provided
  • Provide the study team with daily updates on data collection and participate in the development of daily field reports.
  • Perform any other duties relevant to this position as may be assigned from time to time through the field supervisor.
  • Ability to fluently speak and read any of the local languages: Luganda, Lumasaba and Lusoga.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition studies, or other related fields from any recognized higher institution of learning.
  • Applicants should have demonstrated experience working on a community survey, dietary assessments, 24-hour dietary recall interviews, etc.
  • Possession of a Certificate in Good Clinical Practice or/and Human Subjects Protection is an added advantage.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to fluently speak any of the local languages in the evaluation districts specified above.
