NIC General Insurance is seeking an experienced Risk Officer to coordinate the company-wide application of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, advising management on potential risks that may lead to penalties, financial forfeiture, and material loss.
Reports to: Head of Risk
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk profiling and assist functional managers in updating risk registers.
- Perform regular validation exercises for Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).
- Identify and assess risks associated with current and proposed products, business relationships, and changes in business operations.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating the risk appetite framework.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation and control measures.
- Monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities.
- Follow up with management and provide status reports on the implementation of audit and regulatory recommendations.
- Evaluate the results of Business Continuity Management (BCM) tests and establish mitigations for identified gaps.
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports to the risk manager for review.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines by performing regular and comprehensive risk assessments and testing; report results regularly.
- Develop and execute the compliance risk management plan.
- Conduct internal reviews of policy and compliance to standards.
- Manage and report compliance breaches and exposures; ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Compile and submit compliance statutory and supervisory reports to relevant regulatory bodies.
- Promote a compliance culture within the business and provide staff training.
- Enhance and promote a compliance culture through awareness activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related business field.
- Certification in risk management is an added advantage.
- At least 1-2 years of proven work experience in risk management.
- Ability to produce results under minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong numerical skills and ability to understand broad business issues.
- Ability to run workshops and training sessions.
