Job Summary:   The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the credit and collections processes, ensuring timely payments from clients, minimizing overdue debts, and assessing credit risks. The role will involve working closely with customers and internal teams to maintain healthy cash flow and resolve any credit-related issues.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing clients, set appropriate credit limits, and monitor outstanding debts.
  • Ensure timely collection of payments from clients while maintaining positive relationships. Follow up on overdue invoices and implement effective collection strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in client credit management by regularly reviewing credit limits and assessing client financial health.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client transactions, including invoices, payments, and credit terms.
  • Generate regular reports on outstanding debts, cash flow projection and credit risks for review.
  • Work closely with the sales and finance to resolve any credit disputes or issues.
  • Negotiating payment plans and setting up terms and conditions
  • Processing and reconciliation of invoices
  • Checking and posting of receipts to accounting systems

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Year/s of Experience: 3-5

Specific Skills

  • Proven experience in credit control, preferably in banking or insurance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess credit risk.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and good excel skills.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Positive attitude with a customer-focused approach.
