Job Summary: The Legal Associate at Mirembe & Co. Advocates will play a crucial role in representing our clients, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Court Representation: Represent clients in both lower and higher courts during hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings, ensuring robust advocacy and adherence to procedural requirements.
- Document Preparation & Filing: Draft and file essential court documents, including petitions, motions, and appeals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies, providing well-founded legal arguments and advice.
- Pleadings & Legal Drafting: Draft pleadings, affidavits, legal opinions, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring precision, clarity, and alignment with client objectives.
- Courtroom Advocacy: Present cases in court when required, articulating legal positions persuasively and advocating effectively for clients’ best interests.
- Client Communication: Keep clients informed of case progress, legal proceedings, deadlines, and provide clear, concise explanations of legal options and processes.
- Client Interviews & Case Preparation: Interview clients to gather relevant information, prepare witnesses for trial, and manage all aspects of trial preparation and testimony.
- Case Management: Prepare comprehensive reports, case summaries, and legal memoranda; ensure accurate case registration in the firm’s database for efficient management.
- Financial Oversight: Track and manage financial transactions related to client matters, follow up on payments, and ensure timely collections.
- Deadline Monitoring: Monitor legal deadlines for filings, responses, and appeals to ensure all legal documentation is submitted within the required timeframes.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding both client and firm information, upholding the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized institution.
- Possession of 2 practising certificates is an added advantage
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in legal practice.
- God fearing, Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management methods.
