About the Company:
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act 2013 to regulate Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Postal sub-sectors. In carrying out its mandate and mission of driving the development of a robust communications sector in the country.
Job Summary: To conduct technical evaluations of broadcast license applications, equipment authorisation applications and numbering resources following the Communication Act, UCC policies, UCC objectives, standards and international best practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process broadcast infrastructure applications in compliance with relevant frameworks and standards.
- Manage the processing and accessibility of accurate information related to logical channel numbering resource applications to support billing, compliance assessment and other UCC processes.
- Ensure databases on broadcast infrastructure, license applications, and equipment type approval reviews remain up to date, accurate, and easily accessible.
- Provide input for the development and implementation of tools and systems to streamline the assessment of applications for broadcast licenses and authorisations.
- Execute measures and activities to ensure the efficient functioning of systems, tools, and equipment utilised for broadcast infrastructure authorisations and technical assessments.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate any other duties assigned by the line supervisor from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timeliness and quality of processing broadcast infrastructure and logical channel numbering resource applications.
- Accuracy and completeness of information databases.
- Quality of participation in the development and implementation of tools and systems.
- Successfully executed planned tasks towards the functioning of systems, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
- Membership with the Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers (UIPE).
Working Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Technical
- Technical knowledge of broadcasting engineering and seeks to develop herself/himself professionally.
- Ability to perform assessments and inspections under guidance.
- Ability to undertake systematic analysis of technical information and contribute to strategic thinking.
Behavioural

- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) and openness in sharing information.
- Initiative, trustworthy and upholds organisational and ethical norms.
