Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Outlet Assistant is responsible for assisting the Outlet Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of the outlet, implementing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, meeting sales and profitability goals, and managing outlet staff effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weighs fish products and categorizes them accordingly with sufficient ice application to preserve fish and maintain the cold chain.
- Follows approved procedures for handling fish and restocking fridges to ensure quality protection.
- Receives supplies, organizes and maintains inventory of fish.
- Checks and verifies for freshness of fish.
- Maintains the Outlet premises, equipment, and storage areas clean, neat, and in hygienic condition to meet Food Safety Standards.
- Helps customers understand the product and answers general queries.
- Follows Health and safety guidelines, reporting any concerns or incidents to the Retail Store Supervisor.
- Informs the Supervisor about all out-of-date or damaged fish and ensures it is removed from fridges.
- Adherence to Food Handling Standards.
- Offers exemplary customer service.
- Performs end-of-day cleaning duties, which include wiping down windows, table surfaces, and fixtures as well as sweeping and mopping the shop floor
- Conducts regular inspection of premises and equipment like fridges, POS, and Generators to ensure safety and functionality.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- O-level Certificate
- 2 years’ experience in fish processing.
- Strong leadership and customer management abilities.
- Good Customer care skills.
- Good grasp of the English Language
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized and accurate.
- Must be willing to work long hours when required.
- Be able to work in a multicultural environment.
