Teach For Uganda is an indigenous nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing equitable access to quality education for children in low-income communities. The organization recruits, trains, and places graduates as full-time teachers in underserved primary schools to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
Position Summary:
The Procurement, Logistics, and Administration Volunteer will support procurement, logistics, and administrative functions to improve operational efficiency and contribute to the organization’s mission. This role involves assisting in the procurement of goods and services, managing logistics, and supporting administrative tasks while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement (40%)
- Assist in designing and implementing the annual procurement plan.
- Ensure adherence to the Procurement and Logistics Manual.
- Manage the procurement process, including documentation and delivery.
- Establish and maintain a list of recommended suppliers.
- Prepare monthly procurement reports.
- Coordinate with the Finance Department to ensure timely payments to vendors.
Logistics (20%)
- Review cost sheets and manage logistics for transportation of goods.
- Orient new staff on procurement procedures.
- Maintain an up-to-date asset register and oversee asset management.
Asset Management (15%)
- Maintain lists of equipment repairs and replacements.
- Conduct bi-annual physical counts of assets and manage asset registers.
- Record and report on asset status and conditions.
Administration (25%)
- Support the finance team with vendor payments and maintain the reception area.
- Serve as the face of the organization, managing calls and visitors.
- Maintain office telephone directories and handle mail.
- Support HR with organizing staff training and manage guest logistics.
- Oversee administration arrangements and resolve office-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a reputable university in Uganda.
- 1 year of experience in procurement, logistics, and administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and Zoom.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
