Job Summary:
The IT Applications Manager will lead the technical support for the core banking system, digital financial systems, alternative banking channels, database systems, and other business applications, ensuring stability, performance, and data integrity.

Reports to: Head of Information Technology

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IT applications technical team to support core banking systems, alternative channels, and third-party applications.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of applications and database systems.
  • Ensure optimal performance, data integrity, and availability of all database systems.
  • Manage the design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of business continuity and recovery plans for critical applications.
  • Enforce data security standards to maintain data integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, implement improvements, and manage real-time alerts.
  • Coordinate the generation and submission of ad hoc reports required by the business.
  • Foster knowledge sharing and succession planning within the IT applications team.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to support the bank’s objectives.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Certifications in ITIL, Oracle Database, and Microsoft SQL Server are an added advantage.
  • At least five years of experience in a busy ICT environment in a regulated financial institution with expertise in core banking systems, alternative banking channels, third-party application support, and integration.
  • Strong understanding of high-availability database systems and system integration architecture.
  • Ability to communicate IT-related concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations related to financial transactions.
  • Strong work ethic, leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
